NOTICE OF A PUBLIC INFORMATIONAL MEETING
Project Description:
Concord - Improvements & Upgrades To Concord Rotary (Route 2/2A/119)
Project File No. 602091
A Public Informational Meeting will be held by MassDOT to discuss the proposed project in the Town of Concord.
WHERE: Concord Middle School Auditorium
835 Old Marlboro Road
Concord, MA 01742
WHEN: Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 6:00 PM
PURPOSE: The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed project. All views and comments made at the meeting will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.
PROPOSAL: Redesign the interchange on Route 2 at the Concord Rotary which connects Route 2, Concord Turnpike (Route 2A/119), Barretts Mill Road, and Commonwealth Avenue. The Rotary and the adjacent Elm Street/Route 2 intersection are a high-crash cluster, and the Rotary has a Level of Service of F during the peak hours. Public feedback from massDOT's Route 2 Corridor Study and DCAMM's outreach associated with redevelopment efforts indicate strong public support for a redesign of this interchange.
The Project Development Team has developed concepts with input from the Town and DCAMM to avoid conflicts with known and future constraints while improving traffic operations on Route 2, improving safety at the rotary, and providing multi-modal transportation, including bicycles and pedestrians. Four concepts have been refined, including three grade-separated and one at-grade concept. Because all alternatives require some realignment or modifications of Route 2, all four alternatives include the replacement of the bridge structure carrying Route 2 over the Assabet River.
MassDOT will be presenting these four concepts along with supporting data to the public for review and comment with the goal of determining a recommended concept for design.
This location is accessible to people with disabilities. MassDOT provides reasonable accommodations and/or language assistance free of charge upon request (including but not limited to interpreters in American Sign Language and languages other than English, open or closed captioning for videos, assistive listening devices and alternate material formats, such as audio tapes, Braille and large print), as available.
