ALLIGATOR
HUNTING TAGS
REQUEST FOR BIDS
The La. Dept. of Wildlife & Fisheries has scheduled an alligator hunting season. The Lafourche Parish School Board and the North Lafourche Conservation Levee and Drainage District have agreed to cooperatively administer their hunting rights on their property. The Lafourche Parish School Board as administrator for the two agencies, is requesting bids for the right to hunt alligators on its property and property owned by the Levee District for a three-year period ending with the 2028 alligator hunting season. If you are interested in these rights, bids must be delivered to the School Board Central Office in Thibodaux not later than 10:30 AM on Monday, July 13, 2026. While the past can be no guarantee of future results, based on previous experience, it is estimated that the School Board and Levee District will be allotted with forty-two (42) and five (5) alligator tags respectively for the 2026 hunting season. (Total of forty-seven (47)).
Hunters will be selected for a period of three (3) years. Applicants will submit bids as to the percentage of the hide-income they are willing to pay the Lafourche Parish School Board. The hide-income will be determined by the dealer sale transaction forms and must reflect both feet and inches of each hide and price per foot paid. If alligators are sold whole the percentage applies to total income of hide and meat. Should the hunter elect to process the alligators, Hunter shall indicate this in his bid. In this case, the price/foot to be paid shall be based on the length of the alligator as follows: 11-12 feet-$15, 9-10 feet-$14, 8 feet-$12, 7 feet-$8, 6 feet-$6, and 5 feet-$4.
The best bid will be selected at the discretion of the School Board, and provided that the application is also acceptable. In case of a tie bid, the best application will determine the bid winner. The minimum acceptable bid is 25.00 percent. Do not split a percentage point smaller than quarters (i.e.…28.25, 28.50, 28.75, 29.00). Bid opening will be held at the Lafourche Parish School Board Business Office on 701 E. Seventh Street, Thibodaux, LA 70301. The winning bidder will be notified of selection and is required to come in and sign a contract and leave a deposit set at $12/tag to be received at that time. The School Board will contract with the hunter to exclusively hunt alligators on the property. Each hunter may not have more than ONE helper.
Hunters will be selected based on the following criteria:
1.) Applicant must be a Louisiana resident at least 16 years of age.
2.) Previous alligator hunting experience in Louisiana.
3.) Ownership of essential equipment for alligator hunting.
4.) Ability to maintain required records that support timely payment to the School Board.
5.) All applicants will be screened for past wildlife and criminal violations.
If and only if you can meet these preliminary criteria and you are interested in participating in the alligator harvest, request an application from the following address:
