NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS BY THE METROPOLITAN SCHOOL DISTRICT OF WARREN TOWNSHIP, MARION COUNTY, INDIANA, CONCERNING POSSIBLE DISTRICT-WIDE FACILITY IMPROVEMENT, EQUIPPING, INSTALLATION, LAND IMPROVEMENT AND/OR ACQUISITION PROJECTS
The citizens of the Metropolitan School District of Warren Township, Marion County, Indiana (the "School Corporation"), are hereby notified that the Board of Education of the School Corporation (the "Board") is considering to (1) undertake all or any portion of certain interior and exterior renovations, site improvements and equipping acquisition and/or installation projects at one or more of the buildings and/or related outdoor facilities, extra-curricular/co-curricular fields and site improvements and structures operated by the School Corporation and which are not included as part of the Vision 2020 Renovation, Restoration and Safety Project, as defined in Resolution No. 564.19, adopted by the Board on June 19, 2019, the 2022-2023 Hawthorne Elementary School/Sunny Heights Elementary School/Warren Early Childhood Center Expansion/Renovation/Upgrade Project, as defined in Resolution No. 601.22, adopted by the Board on June 15, 2022, the 2023-2024 Warren Central High School and Walker Career Center Expansion/Renovation/Upgrade Project, as defined in Resolution No. 608.22, adopted by the Board on December 21, 2022, the 2024-2025 General Obligation Bond Project, as defined in Resolution 629.24, adopted by the Board on May 15, 2024, the 2026-2028 Secondary Schools and Facility Improvement and Long-Term Maintenance and Equipping Project, as defined in Resolution No. 646.25, adopted by the Board on July 16, 2025, or the 2026-2028 High School and Elementary Schools Facility Improvement and Long-Term Maintenance and Equipping Project, as defined in Resolution No.649.26, adopted by the Board on March 9, 2026, including, but not limited to, all or any portion of (a) the repair and/or replacement of certain equipment, including, but not limited to, lighting and heating and air conditioning system upgrades and replacements (b) certain safety and security facility updates and equipment installations, (c) interior renovations and upgrades, including, but not limited to, floor covering replacement and finishes, (d) the repair, replacement and/or restoration of all or any portion of certain roofs, and (e) replacement, updating and/or repair of outdoor facilities, extra-curricular/co-curricular fields and site improvements and/or structures, (2) acquire one or more school buses and/or other vehicles to be used by the School Corporation, (3) undertake one or more miscellaneous facility and/or equipping improvement projects throughout the geographical boundaries of the School Corporation, and (4) undertake all projects related to any of the projects described in any of clauses (1) through and including (3) (clauses (1) through and including (4), collectively, the "2026-2028 General Obligation Bond Project").
The estimated cost of the 2026-2028 General Obligation Bond Project will be in excess of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000), all or a portion of which will be financed by issuing one or more series of general obligation bonds to be designated as the "Metropolitan School District of Warren Township, Marion County, Indiana, General Obligation Bonds" (with such series designation made at the time of issuance based on the year of issuance) (the "2026-2028 General Obligation Bonds") or other funds as they may become available. Notice is hereby given by the undersigned that the Board will, on July 15, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. (local time), and again on August 19, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. (local time), in the Board Room of the Warren Education & Community Center, located at 975 N. Post Road, Indianapolis, Indiana, conduct a public hearing (1) to explain the potential value of the 2026-2028 General Obligation Bond Project to the School Corporation, and (2) regarding a preliminary determination to issue the 2026-2028 General Obligation Bonds to finance all or any portion of the costs of all or any portion of the 2026-2028 General Obligation Bond Project. At each of the hearings the Board will also hear objections to, and support for, all or any portion of the 2026-2028 General Obligation Bond Project from the general public.
All interested parties are entitled and encouraged to attend to present their testimony and ask any questions relative to the 2026-2028 General Obligation Bond Project at either or both of the hearings.
Subsequent to the public hearing held on August 19, 2026, the Board expects to consider adoption of a resolution regarding the nature of the 2026-2028 General Obligation Bond Project and making a preliminary determination to issue one or more series of general obligation bonds for the purposes and pursuant to the terms described in this notice.
