TOWN OF NORRIE, MARATHON COUNTY
BIDS WANTED FOR ASPHALT ROADWORK
The Town of Norrie is seeking bids for grinding the present roadway, adding base as needed, laying new asphalt, and building-up shoulders on Birnamwood Road, between Hegewald Lane and the line that is one mile west of County Highway D, for a distance of 1,320 feet (1/4 mile). Paved roadway to be 22-feet wide (11 feet per travel lane) and unpaved shoulders to be 3-feet each side. Please submit one comprehensive bid for this roadwork which should include:
Pulverizing
Pulverize existing roadway, full width and depth. Saw-cutting is incidental to this work. Load, haul, and place 1.25-inch road base, as needed, on the entire roadway (28-feet wide). (Quote pricing per ton of road base.)
This work includes rough grading, shaping, and compacting.
Paving
Prior to laying asphalt, form a 3% crown by fine-grading, shaping, watering, and compacting the entire roadway.
Pave 22-feet width with WisDOT Spec. Type 4MT 58-28S asphalt mix compacted to an average thickness of 3 (three) inches in two lifts. (Quote pricing for 560 tons of asphalt.) Apply tack coat prior to paving the surface course.
Materials shall meet WisDOT specifications per Section 460 for Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA).
Shouldering
Furnish and install WisDOT Spec. 0.75-inch dense-graded base course material for placing or building-up 3-foot, unpaved shoulders each side. (Quote pricing for 200 tons of material.) Work includes furnishing, loading, hauling, placing and compacting the shouldering material.
Roadwork will blend in with existing driveways and intersections.
The Town of Norrie will pay for actual tonnage used. Weight tickets must be provided.
All work and materials must meet the most-current WisDOT Standard Specifications for Highway and Structure Construction, including Section 460 as noted above. An Engineer’s Certification verifying that this project will add a minimum of ten (10) years to the useful life of the road is required.
Project to be completed by September 15, 2026.

Sealed proposals, labeled as “Town of Norrie Non-LRIP Project”, must be received no later than July 13, 2026 by 3 PM. They will be opened, publicly read, and considered for board action at the regular Town Board meeting on Monday, July 13, 2026 at 7 PM.
The Town of Norrie reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals.
