The Scituate Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a hybrid public hearing in the Select Board’s Hearing Room in the Scituate Town Hall located at 600 Chief Justice Cushing Highway and also be accessible via Zoom on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 7:00PM to consider the following requests:

Applicant requests a Variance from Dimensional Regulation pertaining to Required Lot Width as set forth in Zoning Bylaw Section 610.1A where lot is narrowest. The subject lot is already improved with an apartment house. The narrowest area where the dwelling is located is not 100 feet wide. Applicant owns the abutting premises at 9 Allen Place, which is a parcel of unimproved land meeting current zoning requirements. Due to the subject premises not being 100 feet wide at its narrowest point, that nonconformity prevents applicant’s request for issuance of a building permit on the 9 Allen Place lot pursuant to the doctrime of “infectious invalidity”. A Variance on 7 Allen Place is necessary for the Commissioner to grant a building permit for 9 Allen Place. (Assessor’s Map 50, Block 4, Parcel 1).
