NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND
CONSIDERATION OF PROPOSED CITY ORDINANCE
The City of Daytona Beach Shores proposes to adopt the following ordinance:
ORDINANCE 2026-09
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, FLORIDA, PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO THE CITY OF DAYTONA BEACH SHORES CITY CHARTER TO CHANGE THE NAME OF THE CITY TO "THE SHORES"; CALLING A CITY-WIDE REFERENDUM ELECTION ON THE PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT; PROVIDING THE BALLOT TITLE AND BALLOT SUMMARY FOR THE REFERENDUM; PROVIDING FOR NOTICE AND CONDUCT OF THE REFERENDUM ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR LEGISLATIVE AND ADMINISTRATIVE FINDINGS; PROVIDING FOR IMPLEMENTING ADMINISTRATIVE ACTIONS; PROVIDING FOR SAVINGS; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION AND CORRECTION OF SCRIVENER'S ERRORS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
A Public Hearing on this ordinance will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, commencing at 1:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as may be heard, at the regular City Commission meeting in the City Commission Chambers inside the Shores Community Center at 3000 Bellemead Drive, Daytona Beach Shores, Florida. Interested parties may appear and will be given an opportunity to be heard.
Copies of this ordinance may be inspected by the public at City Hall, 2990 S. Atlantic Ave. during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Pursuant to Sec. 166.041(3)(c), F.S., all interested parties may appear and be heard with respect to the proposed ordinance.
RECORD IS REQUIRED TO APPEAL
Pursuant to Sec. 286.0105, F.S., if any person decides to appeal any decision made by the City Commission at this public meeting, the person will need a record of the proceedings and for such purposes may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, including the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
