ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
Sealed bids will be received by the City of Bainbridge Island for the PLEASANT BEACH DRIVE EXTENSION PROJECT until 9:30 am, July 29, 2026, at the City Hall Finance Front Desk, 280 Madison Avenue N., Bainbridge Island, Washington, 98110 and will be opened and publicly read out loud at 10:00 am on July 29, 2026.
NATURE OF IMPROVEMENT: The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, tools, equipment, transportation, supplies, and incidentals necessary for the following major elements:
The Pleasant Beach Drive Extension (PBDE) project will pave the existing 580 linear foot gravel portion of roadway with Asphalt. The single lane width and slope of the roadway will effectively remain. One pullout meeting City standards will be constructed along the route. Stormwater runoff from the newly paved road will be collected and receive Basic treatment per the Washington State Ecology 2024 Stormwater Management Manual for Western Washington. Basic treatment will be accomplished by collecting surface runoff and conveying it to one of two Contech StormFilter units located along the roadway. Once treated, stormwater will be conveyed to existing roadside ditches that will be restored during construction to ensure adequate size and composition. Existing surface flow in the area will continue to be directed to the restored roadside ditches.
One existing culvert across the roadway will be replaced. Three driveway culverts will be replaced. All driveway aprons will be paved if not already, to the extent shown in the plans provided in Appendix B. Tree removal will be required as indicated in the plans. Erosion and sediment control must be maintained during the construction. Existing underground and overhead utilities must be maintained during construction.
All work must be completed before September 30, 2026, due to the steep slopes and associated critical areas.
