The Akron Public Schools received notice of their allocations of federal dollars made available under the provision of Part B (school-age) and Part B (early childhood education) of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The entitlements of $6,517,518.58 for Part B (school-age) and $124,974.76 for Part B (early childhood education) of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) are based on the number of resident children with disabilities, age three through twenty-two, who were provided appropriate special education programs by the school district based on the December 1, 2025 child count.
Prior to the adoption of any policies and procedures needed to comply with Part B of the Act (including any amendments to those policies and procedures), the Akron Public Schools Office of Special Education is providing public notice of a hearing per 34 CFR Part 300.165 where the general public will have the opportunity to make comments. The hearing is open to the general public which includes individuals with disabilities and parents of children with disabilities.
