ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
Legal Notice is hereby given that sealed proposals for the Dune Walkover and Boardwalk Replacement and Repairs (ITB-BP-1-2026/JH) project will be received at the Office of the Procurement Manager, City of Sanibel, Florida, at City Hall, 800 Dunlop Road, Sanibel, until 2:30 P.M., on August 27, 2026, and shortly thereafter will be publicly opened and read aloud. Any proposal offered later than the above time will be returned unopened.
The work for which proposals are to be received consists of:
This project consists of the full replacement and repair of multiple dune walkovers throughout the City of Sanibel's beach parks and public beach access locations island wide. The project also includes Additive Alternate Bid work at Lighthouse Beach Park for the replacement and repair of additional dune walkover and boardwalk structures.
The work generally includes the demolition of designated existing structures; construction of new dune walkovers, ramps, and boardwalks, installation of foundations, framing, decking, railings, and associated appurtenances as shown on the construction plans. New structures shall be constructed utilizing pressure-treated wood framing and TanDeck composite high-density polyethylene (HDPE) lumber, or an approved engineer-equal material, for decking and guardrail components to provide long-term durability and resilience within the coastal environment.
Any existing structure identified for repair, modification, or extension shall utilize materials that match the existing TanDeck decking and railing system to maintain consistency in appearance, performance, and functionality.
All work shall be performed in accordance with the approved construction plans, technical specifications, permit conditions, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations. The Contractor shall take all necessary precautions to protect adjacent dune systems, native vegetation, wildlife habitat, and environmentally sensitive areas throughout the duration of the project. Work shall comply with all environmental protection requirements, including those related to sea turtle nesting, shorebird protection, and coastal resource preservation.
Proposals shall be properly and completely executed on a standard proposal form. Each proposal shall be accompanied by an acceptable certified check or cashier’s check made payable to the City of Sanibel, or an acceptable Bidders Bond, in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the total bid price.
The Contractor to whom the work is awarded will be required to furnish an acceptable Surety Bond in an amount of one hundred percent (l00%) of the contract price.
No bidder may withdraw his proposal within a period of ninety (90) days following the date set for receiving proposals. The City of Sanibel re¬serves the right to hold any and all bids for a period of not more than ninety (90) days and said bids shall be and remain valid and in full force and effect during said period. The City of Sanibel reserves the right to reject any and all proposals and to waive informalities.
