PUBLIC NOTICE
The ABINGTON TOWNSHIP BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS will take action on the following Ordinance at its regularly scheduled meeting on August 27, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., to be held at the Township Municipal Building, 1176 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001, and will hold a public hearing on and will consider for adoption an ordinance which would amend the Township’s Code of Ordinances at Chapter 158 – “Vehicles, Recreational,” at Section 2 – “Purpose,” Section 3 – “Definitions” and Section 4 – “Prohibited Acts” to prohibit the use and operation of electric bicycles and electric scooters in Township parks. Members of the public are permitted to attend the live meeting or to attend via virtual means. Instructions for attendance via virtual means will be available on the Township’s website at www.abingtonpa.gov.
The Ordinance to be considered and acted upon is the following:
ORDINANCE AMENDING PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 158 – “VEHICLES, RECREATIONAL,” AT SECTION 2 – “PURPOSE,” SECTION 3 – “DEFINTIONS” AND SECTION 4 – “PROHIBITED ACTS”
The proposed Ordinance to be considered and acted upon on August 13, 2026, has been drafted for the health, welfare, and safety of the residents of Abington Township.
The proposed Ordinance, inter alia, amends the Abington Township Code of Ordinances by amending Chapter 158 – “Vehicles, Recreational,” at Section 2 – “Purpose,” Section 3 – “Definitions” and Section 4 – “Prohibited Acts” and establishing an effective date therefore, all as further outlined in the Ordinance.
The full text of the proposed Ordinance may be examined by any citizen in the Office of the Manager of Abington Township located at 1176 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., by appointment only by contacting Terry Castorina at 267-536-1003 or tcastorina@abingtonpa.gov, at the Abington Township Police Department’s Radio Room, the Abington Township Library during their regular business hours of operation, the Montgomery County Law Library located at 2 East Airy Street, Norristown, PA 19401, and it is also available on the Township of Abington’s website, www.abingtonpa.gov. Interested members of the public may also submit written comments on or before July 9, 2026, to the Township Manager, Abington Township, 1176 Old York Road, Abington, PA, 19001.
