TO THE RESIDENTS AND OWNERS OF PROPERTY ABUTTING UNION LAKE, BRANCH COUNTY, MICHIGAN
On May 11, 2026, a Resolution of Intent to Proceed After Public Hearing was adopted to renew a special assessment district for the improvement of Union Lake. The Special Assessment District includes all properties directly abutting
Union Lake. As the owner of record for property in the pending Special Assessment District, this communication is your notice that a PUBLIC HEARING TO CONFIRM THE ASSESSMENT ROLL WILL BE HELD at 7:15 p.m., July 7, 2026, in the Sherwood Township Hall, 548 N. Main, Sherwood, MI.
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the special assessment roll has been prepared and filed with the Sherwood Township Clerk and may be examined at that office from the date of this notice until and including the date of the public hearing and may be examined at such public hearing. All property owners in the proposed assessment district and parties with an interest in the property to be assessed are hereby advised that they or their agent must protest the assessment at or before the public hearing in order to be eligible to appeal the special assessment to the State Tax Tribunal. A protest may be filed in writing with the Sherwood Township Clerk prior to the hearing, or presented in person at the public hearing. Please note that State Law requires that any appeal to the State Tax Tribunal must be filed within 30 days after the roll is confirmed.
