2026 Tax Collection TAKE NOTICE, that I, Tammy Stein, the undersigned, Receiver of Taxes and Assessment of the Town of Elmira, Chemung County, New York, has duly received the tax roll and warrant for the collection of taxes within the Town of Elmira for the year 2026 and that I will attend at the Town Hall, 1255 W. Water Street, in the said Town of Elmira, from January 2, 2026 to March 31, 2026 from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM on each day except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays for the purpose of receiving the taxes listed on said roll. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that taxes may be paid on or before February 2, 2026 without charge or interest. On all such taxes remaining unpaid after February 2, 2026, one percent of the amount of the unpaid tax for each month or fraction thereafter until the return of the unpaid taxes is made by the Receiver to the County Treasurer pursuant to law. Pursuant to Section 987 of the Real Property Tax Law, as of March 2, 2026 an additional $1.00 penalty will be added to the total due and owing. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that pursuant to the provisions of law the tax roll of the Town of Elmira will be returned to the County Treasurer of the County of Chemung on the 10th day of April, 2026.
