Aquatic Plant Management on DNR lands, Portage/Wood County
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) proposes to treat up to 80 acres on the Paul J. Olson Wildlife Area in Wood and Portage County and up to 255 acres on the Buena Vista Wildlife Area in Portage County for selective control of woody aquatic species, including willow and spirea. The DNR will perform the treatments in the summer and fall of 2026. The proposed herbicide for treatment is Element 3A. Treatment signs will be posted at the proposed sites prior to treatment. The WDNR will hold a public informational meeting on the proposed treatments if five or more individuals, organizations, or units of government request one. The person or entity requesting the meeting shall state a specific agenda of topic(s) including problems and alternatives to be discussed. The request for the public information meeting must be sent in writing to the attention of "Wildlife Biologist," Wisconsin DNR, 473 Griffith Avenue, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54494 within five days after this public notice is made.
