BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE ROCKFORD PUBLIC SCHOOLS, DISTRICT
NO. 205, WINNEBAGO AND BOONE COUNTIES, ILLINOIS
RESOLUTION DESIGNATING A PUBLIC HEARING TO REQUEST ISBE WAIVER
WHEREAS, Eligible entities may petition the Illinois State Board of Education for General Assembly
approval of waivers of School Code mandates for the following reasons only:
• to meet the intent of the mandate in a more effective, efficient, or economical manner; or
• to stimulate innovation; or
• to improve student performance.
WHEREAS, All entities wishing to petition for a waiver or modification first must hold a public
hearing to consider the request. The hearing must provide for a time to take testimony about the
request separate from the time when any other business is being conducted or testimony on other
matters is being heard. The public hearing held to consider waiver application must conform to the
requirements of the Open Meetings Act (5 ILCS 120/1).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE ROCKFORD PUBLIC SCHOOLS, DISTRICT
NO. 205, WINNEBAGO AND BOONE
COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, as follows:
SECTION 1: The Notice of Public Hearing to request a waiver of the Illinois School Code requirement
to post a PE Waiver summary in a Local Newspaper will be posted on the District Website for public
inspection for at least 14 days prior to Public Hearing.
SECTION 2: Notice of the Public Hearing shall be given by publication in the Rock River Times,
being a newspaper published in this School District, on or before April 22, 2026.
SECTION 3: A Public Hearing shall be held on the Request for Waiver of the Illinois School Code
requirement to post the PE Wavier summary in a Local Newspaper on the 16ʰ day of June, 2026, at
7:00 PM, in the Board Room of the Administration Building, 501 Seventh Street, Rockford, Illinois.
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its adoption.
ADOPTED at Rockford, Illinois this 21st day of April 2026.
