Befesa Water Quality Management Permit Application
Notice is hereby given that Befesa Zinc US Inc., who owns an inactive Residual Waste Landfill (Landfill) located in Potter Township, Beaver County, intends to submit an application to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) for a new Water Quality Management (WQM) Permit for the operation of a pH neutralization system, in a manner which meets PADEP requirements. The Landfill currently discharges a combination of landfill leachate, underdrain water, and stormwater runoff from a Leachate Collection Pond located west of the Landfill. The Leachate Collection Pond discharges to Raccoon Creek via Outfall 006 as permitted under National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit PA0254584.
