BERKELEY TOWNSHIP NOTICE OF HEARING
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
In compliance with Article V, Section 35-7.4c of the Zoning Ordinance of the Township of Berkeley, New Jersey, notice is hereby served upon you to the affected that I, Randy Thompson, do hereby propose to:
construct an addition to the existing dwelling at 222 Laurel Drive. The following variances are required: §35 Attachment 5 – A front yard setback of 35 ft is required, whereas 29.5 ft is proposed along Holly Street to the proposed addition; §35 Attachment 5 – A front yard setback of 35 ft is required along Laurel Drive, whereas 25.7 ft exists; §35 Attachment 5 – A lot frontage of 100 ft is required, whereas 55 ft exists along Laurel Street; §35 Attachment 5 – A lot area of 10,000 sf is required, whereas 8,250 sf exists. The following design waivers are needed: §35-54(a) & § 35-54 – An asphalt or concrete driveway is required with a concrete apron, whereas stone is existing and proposed;§35-53.3 – Concrete curbing shall be constructed along the edge of all paved surfaces, whereas no curb exists or is proposed; §35-67.1 – Sidewalks are required along all streets, whereas no sidewalk exists or is proposed and any and all other variances and waivers as may be required as determined during the application and hearing process.

In view of the fact that the Zoning Officer of the Township of Berkeley, New Jersey, denied approval of this request by reason of it's being in violation of Code Reference Article: 35-135 Sections: b. 1 of the Zoning Ordinance. I (we) are hereby appealing this refusal of the Zoning Officer to the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
Any person or persons affected by this appeal has the opportunity to be heard at the meeting to be held on June 10, 2026 at 6:30PM in the meeting room of the Municipal Building at 627 Pinewald-Keswick Road, Bayville NJ 08721.
All documents relating to this application may be inspected by the public between the hours of 9:00AM to 3:00PM in the Office of the Board of Adjustment in the Municipal Building.
