PUBLIC HEARING
SPECIAL EXCEPTION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Commission of the City of Ormond Beach, Florida, will hold a Public Hearing at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in the City Commission Chambers, City Hall, 22 South Beach Street, Ormond Beach, Florida, 32174, to consider a request by Cobb Cole Law Firm, on behalf of the property owner, First United Methodist Church, Inc., for a Special Exception to allow for demolition of the existing gathering building and allow for construction of a new gathering building with associated site improvements. The Special Exception request includes three items which are: 1) wall waiver requirement, 2) building setback requirements, and 3) overall development plan approval for the House of Worship. The subject property is a total of approximately 5.24 acres located at 336 South Halifax Drive and the area for the project improvements is approximately 0.53 acres or 23,311 square feet. The original House of Worship was approved as a Conditional Use Permit in 1993 with Resolution 93-38 and would effectively be replaced in its entirety with the current Special Exception application. The property has a zoning designation of R-2, Single-Family Low Density. ALL PARTIES ARE INVITED to appear and submit oral or written objections or comments. The failure of a person to appear during said hearing and comment on or object to the Special Exception, either in person or in writing, may preclude the ability of such person to contest the Special Exception. Copies of the application are available for inspection by the public in the Planning Department, Ormond Beach City Hall, 22 South Beach Street, Room 104, Ormond Beach, Florida.
Pursuant to Section 286.0105, Florida Statutes, if any person decides to appeal any decision made by a City board and/or commission with respect to any matter considered at these public meetings, such person will need a record of the proceedings and for such purpose, such person may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceeding is made, including the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
