CITY OF VENETA
PLANNING COMMISSION
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
On Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. the City of Veneta will hold a public hearing regarding City File No. A-25-4, proposed amendments to the Veneta Zoning and Development Code.
NATURE OF CHANGES
The amendments will repeal the City's short-term rental regulations from the Veneta Zoning and Development Code. The City will re-adopt these regulations in the Veneta Municipal Code.
City File No. A-25-4 is available for inspection at the Veneta City Hall located at 88184 8th Street, Veneta, Oregon 97487. A staff report will be available for review at Veneta City Hall 7 days prior to the public hearing. Copies of the applicable ordinance, the application, the staff report, and related documents can be purchased for the cost of copying. For additional information concerning City File No. A-25-4, please contact Daniel Findlay at 541-935-2191 or dfindlay@venetaoregon.gov.
PUBLIC HEARING INFORMATION
Residents may present testimony for or against the requested changes by submitting written comments or by giving oral testimony at the public hearings. Written comments may be submitted at Veneta City Hall; 88184 8th Street, Veneta, Oregon; mailed to City of Veneta, P. O. Box 458, Veneta, OR 97487; sent by FAX (541) 935-1838; or sent by e-mail to dfindlay@venetaoregon.gov by October 27, 2025.
The Planning Commission will review the request based upon information in the staff report and public comment submitted. The Commission will then make a recommendation to the Veneta City Council who will hold a separate public hearing regarding the changes. All public hearings will follow city land use hearing rules of procedure.
Failure to raise an issue accompanied by statements or evidence sufficient to afford the Commission and the parties an opportunity to respond to the issue precludes appeal to the Land Use Board of Appeals (LUBA) based on that issue. The failure of the applicant to raise constitutional or other issues relating to proposed conditions of approval with sufficient specificity to allow this Commission to respond to the issue precludes an action for damages in circuit court.
