CITY OF YREKA - NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO. 2026-38

Location: Council Chambers, 701 4th Street, Yreka, CA 96097
Project Description: The City Council will consider the following Conditional Use Permit (CUP) Application No. 2026-38 filed by Jay and Nancy Jones for 403 Third Street, Yreka, CA, Assessors Parcel Number (APN) 053-202-060, located within the Yreka Historic District (Ref #72000258). The proposed CUP Application would approve the construction of a metal accessory storage structure on the Applicant's property. The site is currently zoned R-1- Single-Family Residential with a General Plan designation of Historic Downtown, which permits the accessory storage structure subject to approval of a CUP.
Environmental Review Information: The proposed conditional use was reviewed for environmental compliance under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The proposed project qualifies as a project and is eligible for a Class 3 (New Construction or Conversion of Small Structures) Categorical Exemption pursuant to Section 15303 of the CEQA Guidelines. The Class 3 Categorical Exemption consists of construction and location of limited numbers of new, small facilities or structures; installation of small new equipment and facilities in small structures; and the conversion of existing small structures from one use to another where only minor modifications are made in the exterior of the structure.
Public Comment: Public comment may be given on this project in several ways: 1) By emailing arocalezra@yrekaca.gov. Please identify the specific item you are commenting on and whether your comment should be read at the City Council meeting by City Staff; 2) By mailing written comments to City Hall, 701 4th Street, Yreka, CA 96097 and note if your comment should be read at the City Council meeting by City Staff; 3) attending the public hearing at City Council on the noted date, time, and location above in person. If a member of the public wishes to challenge the proposed project, comments may be limited to only those issues raised at the public hearing described in this notice, or in written correspondence delivered prior to the public hearing.
