Candlewood Pump Station Influent Gravity Sewer Improvements Project Take notice that an application for a Freshwater Wetlands General Permit No. 2 and a Flood Hazard Area Individual Permit is being submitted to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Division of Land Resource Protection for the development described below: APPLICANT: New Jersey American Water PROJECT NAME: Candlewood Pump Station Influent Gravity Sewer Improvements Project PROJECT DESCRIPTION: New Jersey American Water is proposing to provide necessary improvements to the existing wastewater collection network located east of the Candlewood Pump Station. The existing system experiences surcharging, hydraulic issues, and access issues. The project proposes to reconfigure the gravity sewer between existing manholes. A total of 238 linear feet of new 12-inch-diameter polyvinyl chloride (PVC) gravity sewer is proposed. New sewer main piping and manholes will be relocated closer to the pump station, outside of a private fence, to improve access for maintenance. The proposed sewer main will improve hydraulics by reconfiguring relative pipe angles to minimize hydraulic losses and replacing hydraulically restrictive 8-inch-diamter pipe segments with 12-inch-diamater piping. Existing asbestos cement (AC) pipe and associated manholes will be removed and disposed offsite or abandoned in place.
