Charlie Loyal Shaw crossed the rainbow bridge peacefully on the front porch of his home on Monday, September 9.
Born on July 21, 2010, Charlie was the beloved dog, but more accurately known as the “favorite child” of Tammy and Gregg Shaw. He is survived by his human-sister Kelsey (Alex) Dus, human-brother Tyler Shaw (Courtney Skinner), nephew Calvin Dus, and his four-legged sister, Maisie the cat.
Charlie found his true calling as the Director of Client Happiness at Oswald Marketing, a role he embraced at just six weeks old and held for fourteen wonderful years. He had a special talent for brightening everyone’s day with his wagging tail, head nuzzles, and proudly snacking on any treats he was given. He never judged anyone and loved them for who they were. Oswald was like a second home to him, and his absence is deeply felt by his teammates.
But above all else, Charlie adored his mom. From morning until night, they were inseparable, sharing a bond of unwavering love and support. He even had his own cozy spot in Tammy’s office, where he loved to curl up in his bed by the window. They traveled together and loved spending fall weekends in Brown County, Kentucky Lake, and walking the riverfront.
Charlie courageously fought a long battle with cancer, but with the unwavering care of his family, the veterinary team at Stoneridge Animal Care, and Angie Daub who took such good care of him, he extended his life by more than four precious years. He spent his final days outside on his cherished wraparound porch, surrounded by family and soaking in the beautiful weather.
While we feel an ache in our hearts without Charlie, he leaves behind a legacy we all can learn from:
Leave everyone you meet happier than before.
Love unconditionally.
Stand bravely against adversity; you're stronger than you know.
Always ask for cheese on your kibble - it just tastes better.
