City of Gretna, Florida
The Florida Department of Commerce (FloridaCommerce) is making available $400 million in CDBG-DR funding for communities impacted by Hurricanes Idalia, Debby, Helene, Milton, and/or the 2024 North Florida Tornadoes. The City of Gretna intends to apply to the Rebuild Florida Infrastructure Repair Program for approximately $6,815,598 in grant funds for the following project:
City of Gretna Wellfield Improvements Project ($6,815,598):
The City of Gretna proposes a comprehensive Wellfield Improvements project to enhance the reliability, capacity, and resilience of its municipal water supply system. The project will address vulnerabilities exposed by Hurricane Helene, which caused disruptions in water service and highlighted the need for infrastructure upgrades to withstand future extreme weather events. This project includes the rehabilitation and upgrade of existing production wells, installation of new well pumps and motors with flood-resistant electrical components, and the construction of protective enclosures to safeguard critical wellfield infrastructure from flood damage.
A public hearing will be held to provide citizens with the opportunity to comment on the proposed application on September 16th at 6:30pm at City Hall, located at 14615 Main Street, Gretna, FL.
A draft copy of the application will be available for review beginning September 16th at 6:30pm at City Hall and online at https://mygretna.com/. Written comments may be submitted to Antonio Jefferson, City Manager, by email at ajefferson@mygretna.com or mailed to City Hall, 14615 Main Street, Gretna, FL no later than September 26th. Final application(s) will be available for review at City Hall during normal business hours and will be submitted to FloridaCommerce on or before September 29, 2025.
