CORRECTED NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION
TO DECIDE WHETHER THE
POLAND JOINT FIRE DISTRICT SHOULD BE DISSOLVED
ACCORDING TO GENERAL MUNICIPAL LAW
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to Section 779 of Article 17-A of General Municipal
Law, a Petition for Local Government Dissolution was presented to the Town of Ohio Clerk, for
the Poland Joint Fire District, located within the Towns of Ohio, Russia, and part of the Towns of
Newport and Norway (in Herkimer County) and part of the Town of Deerfield (in Oneida
County), which Petition stated:
"We the undersigned, electors and legal voters of a fire district
created under Town Law Articles 11 and 11-A, called the
Poland Joint Fire District, located within the Towns of Ohio,
Russia, and part of the towns of Newport and Norway,
including the Villages of Poland and Cold Brook, each in
Herkimer County, and part of the Town of Deerfield in Oneida
County, qualified to vote at the next general or special election,
respectfully petition that there be submitted to the electors
within the Poland Joint Fire District, for their approval or
rejection at a referendum held for that purpose, a proposal to
dissolve and terminate the Poland Joint Fire District, all
pursuant to General Municipal Law Article 17-A"
The aforementioned Petition shall be made available for examination upon request to the District
Secretary at the Village of Poland, Goodney Building, located at 11 Case Street, Poland, New
York 13431. Requests may be submitted by email to PJFDSecretary@ntcnet.com.
FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to Section 780 of the General Municipal
Law, the Special Election of the Poland Joint Fire District will be held on Tuesday, February 10,
2026 between the hours of 4:00PM and 9:00PM at the Town of Russia Municipal Building
located at 8916 N Main Street, Poland, New York 13431.
A single question will be presented to the electorate of the Poland Joint Fire District (in the form
prescribed by General Municipal Law Section 780):
"Should the Poland Joint Fire District Proceed to Dissolution
According to the Provisions of the General Municipal Law? YES NO"
Only residents registered to vote with Herkimer County Board of Elections or Oneida County
Board of Elections on or before January 18, 2026 and who are residents of the Poland Joint Fire
District on or before January 11, 2026, are eligible to vote.
