Directors met in a regular session from 5:30–9:01pm. Board Chair Norris presiding.
Present: Alonzo, Campos, Dix, Knox, Martorano, Mayberry-Mayes, and Norris
The directors approved the following items: 7-0
1. Approval of agenda
The directors held a public forum for speakers attending in person.
Superintendent Roberts recognized the new partnership with Des Moines Public Library, where every student in grades 7-12 will be able to use their student ID as a public library card. He thanked recently retired director Sue Woody interim director Jon Hobbs and their team for making this a reality.
The directors approved the following consent items: 7-0.

The directors approved the public hearing: 7-0
1. Public Hearing on the sale of District radio station 88.1 KDPS
The directors approved the other item: 7-0

Items of privilege:
Chairs Report: Mayes shared that the City of Des Moines is taking applications for the Youth Advisory Board, and encouraged DMPS students to apply. Martorano- thanked all the school buildings who invited her the past week for back to school. Alonzo- shared a shout out to all those that came out to participate during the labor day parade. Knox- shared that she is so excited that the DMPL/DMPS partnership project that she's been working on for the past almost 4 years is live. Shared her gratitude for the administration and other districts that led similar projects. She also encouraged all to save the date for Des Moines Public Schools Foundation's OneRun on October 18th.
Superintendent's Report: Dr. Roberts thanked all DMPS teammates for another great start of the year. And shared an update on the Reimagining Education plan.
The directors approved a motion to go into closed session according to 21.5.1.a: 7-0
Board members Dix and Alonzo recused themselves from the closed and executive sessions for a potential conflict of interest.
Following closed session, the directors met in executive session. At the conclusion, the directors reconvened in open session and approved an enrollment decision: 5-0-2, Alonzo and Dix abstaining.
Meeting adjourned at 7:19pm. Then the board moved into a work session to discuss the budget from 7:20-7:53pm then from 7:54-9:01 discussed the Board Governance structure and manual.
