DEWITT CHARTER TOWNSHIP 2026 SUMMER TAX NOTICE & INFORMATION For Residents of DeWitt Charter Township Summer real and personal property tax statements will be levied on July 1. If taxpayers don't receive a bill by July 15, please contact the Treasurer's Office for a copy. Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve the responsibility for payment, nor constitute cause for cancellation of penalty and interest if the tax becomes delinquent. When the property tax payment is handled by an escrow company, property owners will not receive a bill directly. All property owners can obtain tax bill copies and property data online at dewitttownship.gov. Tax payments can be mailed or delivered to the Treasurer's Office at 1401 W. Herbison Road, DeWitt, MI 48820. A drop box is available for payments in front of the Township Hall. Credit card and e-check payments are accepted online. Established convenience fees apply to all electronic payments. All taxes, both real and personal property, are due 09/14/26. Payments must be received in the Treasurer's Office on the due date to be considered on-time. Payments made online and into the drop box on the due date, are considered on-time. The Township does not honor postmark dates as paid on-time. Unpaid and delinquent real property taxes are turned over to the Clinton County Treasurer on 03/02/27. NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY FOR DEFERMENT OF SUMMER TAXES Qualifying residents of DeWitt Charter Township may be eligible to defer payment of summer taxes to 02/16/27, if approved. Tax deferments are available to residents with a total annual household income of less than $40,000 meeting one of the following eligibility requirements. 62 years or older person, paraplegic, hemiplegic, or quadriplegic person, eligible service person, eligible veteran, eligible widow or widower, blind person, totally & permanently disabled person. Residents can file an intent to defer on or before 09/14/26. This deferment is for a homeowner's principal residence only. Qualified persons must apply for the summer tax payment deferment each tax year.
