The world was considerably diminished by the passing of Emily Gordon, who died Saturday, August 31st, after valiantly fighting a brief illness.
After insinuating herself into the Gordon household in June of 2010, Emily found her place in the family, alongside her adopted mother Sadie, and her adopted aunt, Shadow.
She then started training with them at Falls Park, and eventually became quite adept at fetching alongside them in the Reedy River, where she would delight all who would stop by to watch her.
Emily enjoyed showing off her behavioral skills, as well as her ability to catch a ball on the first bounce nearly every time and retrieve it. The persistent rumor that Emily was at one time offered a position as shortstop with the Atlanta Braves remains unsubstantiated.
When not hiking with her dad near Caesar’s Head, Emily enjoyed road trips, cookouts with friends, and a good hamburger (and lots of attention) at the Passerelle Bistro.
The family wishes to express its profound gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Ambassador Animal Hospital, and Upstate Vet for their compassion, professionalism, and efforts on Emily’s behalf.
The family encourages all pet parents to consider securing Trupanion for their companions, as without it, Emily’s considerable medical expenses would have been considerably harder to manage.
The family also encourages all pet parents everywhere give their companions an extra hug tonight, and to take a minute to appreciate the precious time they have with them.
