Gilbert City Council Minutes Council Chamber March 23, 2026, at 6:30 PM Present: Mayor Jonathan Popp, Councilmembers; Shaon Anderson, Steve Mahoney, Brent Randolph, and Frank Rydl. Guests: Susan Risdal, Elijah Dahlstrom, Marcia Dahlstrom. City employees: Mike Tjernagel. Mayor Popp led in the Pledge of Allegiance. Motion to approve consent agenda items; agenda for March 23, 2026, and the minutes of the March 2, 2026, regular meeting. (Anderson/Mahoney). MCU (4). Open Forum: Elijah Dahlstrom, an Eagle Scout, addressed the Council regarding his proposed Eagle Scout project, which includes constructing a shaded structure over picnic tables at the City pond. Dahlstrom provided an overview of the project and its intended benefit to the community. Motion to approve liquor license for the Open Flame. (Anderson/Mahoney). MCU (4). Motion to approve setting Gilbert Days 2026 events for August 22, 2026. (Randolph/Anderson). MCU (4). Motion to approve proposed stop sign installations at the intersections of Park Avenue and Ammerman Street, and Christian Petersen Avenue and Jensen Street. (Mahoney/Rydl). MCU (4). Clerk was directed to post for the Public Works Supervisor position for 10 days, as listed on the agenda, with clarification that the position title is Streets and Parks Supervisor. (Rydl, Anderson). MCU (4). Clerk was directed to post for the Public Works position for 2 weeks. (Anderson/Mahoney). MCU (4). Motion to approve planning and purchasing of replacement pedestrian bridges at Upstill Park. (Anderson/Mahoney). MCU (4). Motion to approve the removal of the tornado siren at First Street and Dunn Street. (Mahoney/ Randolph). MCU (4). Next regular council meeting will be Monday, April 6, 2026, at 6:00 PM.
