Girard Township: Notice of Adoption NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENT The Township Board of Girard Township, Branch County, Michigan, approved and adopted on July 6, 2026 Zoning Ordinance amendments, involving: the addition of Section 6.26 Data Centers to create regulations specific to Data Centers; Section 2.02 to add a definition for Accessory Dwelling Unit; Section 6.02 Accessory Buildings and Section 6.20 Fences, to update and move these requirements into Articles 15 AG-Agricultural District, 16 R1-Low Density Residential District, 20 C2-General Business District and 21 I1-Industrial District; removal of Articles 17 R2-Medium Density Residential District, 18 MF-Multi-Family Dwellings, 19 C1-Neighborhood Business District and 22-OC Open Space and Waterbody Conservation District and relocate all uses and special uses into AG, R1, C2 and I1 districts; update Articles 15 (AG) and 16 (R1) to allow for Accessory Dwelling Units and to allow the total replacement of dwellings. This amendment was adopted following a public hearing held on July 2, 2026, pursuant to the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act (Act 110 of 2006, MCL 125.3101 et seq.), after review and recommendation by the Planning Commission. This Ordinance shall take effect, seven (7) days after the day of its publication pursuant to MCL125.3402, as amended.
