INVITATION TO BID
RENOVATION FOR SOMERSET COUNTY EMS
You are invited to bid on a General Contract for the renovation of an existing pre-engineered metal building located at 30448 Cemetery Lane, Princess Anne, MD 21853. The renovated building will become the new Somerset County EMS Station. The renovation requires the demolition of the current machine shop, storage areas, existing demising wall, metal wall and roof panels, personnel doors, overhead doors, and existing building insulation. The new work will entail creating a new ambulance bay with storage areas, new sectional overhead doors, new personnel doors and a new trench drain. The crew area will consist of new offices, conference room, single use handicap toilet, a living area, dining area, kitchen, large bunk room, a bathroom with shower, and handicap bathroom with shower, and a janitor's closet. The shell of the building will have new insulation metal wall and roof panels, and new gutters and downspouts. Site work will be minimal since but there will be concrete stoops and aprons, and new concrete filled metal bollards. The building will be tied into the town's utilities and new HVAC systems will be installed. The contractor shall provide all necessary labor, equipment, tools, materials, and incidentals, and shall perform all operations required to completely finish all of the work in the manner approved by the architect. The contractor shall work with the town for staging and storage areas, construction times, field offices, and other concerns the town may have.
Bids must be on a lump sum basis and may not be withdrawn for 60 days.
A pre-bid meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 10:00 AM at the construction site. Attendance is recommended but not mandatory to bid. By submitting their bid, Bidders acknowledge they have examined the site in sufficient detail and familiarized themselves to prepare a complete and responsible bid for the specified work. No claims will be approved during construction for items that can be reasonably verified by field examination.
The Somerset County Commissioners will receive sealed bids until 12:00 PM, Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the Somerset County Office Complex located at 11916 Somerset Avenue, Princess Anne, MD 21853. Bids received after this time will not be accepted. Bids will be opened publicly and read aloud at the regularly scheduled meeting held that same day.

Bidders must be registered to perform work in the State of Maryland and shall include their license number on the Bid Form.
Bid Security in the amount of ten (10) percent of the Bid must accompany each bid in the Instructions to Bidders. The successful Bidder's security will be retained until he has signed the Contract and furnished a Performance Bond and a Payment Bond AIA Document A312, each in the amount of the contract sum.
The right is reserved, as the interests of the Somerset County Commissioners may appear, to reject any and all bids, to waive any informality in bids received, and to accept or reject any items of any bid.
