In Loving Memory on Your 80th Birthday

Fred J. Topel, Jr. June 29, 1946 – May 4, 2019 There are some people whose absence is never measured in years. Tomorrow, would have been your 80th birthday, and we find ourselves thinking about you just as often as ever. Time has passed, but not a day goes by that you aren’t remembered. We miss your voice, your stories, your advice, and your steady presence that helped guide us through all of life's challenges. We miss the comfort of knowing you were there. You spent a lifetime helping others, sharing your knowledge, lending a hand, and asking for very little in return. Family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers were all better for having known you. Your love of trains was lifelong, and even now, whenever a SEPTA train passes by, thoughts of you are never far behind. We like to imagine that some part of your spirit is still riding the rails, surrounded by old friends and watching over those who love you. Your memory continues to bring smiles, laughter, stories, and gratitude. We are thankful for every lesson, every laugh, and every moment we were fortunate enough to share with you.
