Public Works Director Matt Greiner noted that there would be a public meeting for the Zone 3 sidewalk project, which includes Northglenn and Johnston Commons neighborhoods, on May 14 at 5:30 p.m. He also noted that a public meeting on the NW 62nd Avenue project would be held on May 21 at 5:30 p.m.
9. City Council Comments
A. Comments
Council Member Cope noted that graduation season has led to a number of people getting the opportunity to experience Crown Point, and that while hosting a graduation party there, he'd received a lot of wonderful comments on the facility. He also commented on the success of that project and a great investment in the community. Mayor Dierenfeld echoed those remarks and pointed out the need in the community for those kinds of spaces, and noted that during Kites on the Green there were also graduation parties occurring at the Simpson Barn.
Council Member Burkhardt noted that while the Council recognizes various "weeks", he wanted to point out that it is Educator Appreciation Week, and thanked not only the teachers, administrators, and staff who serve in Johnston, but also those residents who serve in other districts. Burkhardt also advised that there no current water restrictions put forth by CIWW, but that as temperatures begin to heat up and more folks irrigate, CIWW will be hard pressed to keep up with the water that can be treated and provided. He noted that CIWW is doing everything in their power to make sure that unnecessary restrictions aren't put in place, and that this is a metro-wide partnership, so any restrictions aren't just Johnston specific. He also encouraged residents not to water if they don't need to.
Mayor Dierenfeld commented on another successful Kites on the Green event, and thanked everyone who helped organize and run the event. She estimated that there were nearly 6000 people in attendance at this year's event. She also thanked all the volunteers, and sponsors who contributed to this very successful event that seems to be increasing in popularity.
