Mayor Dierenfeld called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Mayor Dierenfeld welcomed residents and guests to the meeting.

Youth in the audience led the meeting in the Pledge.

A. How to Make Public Comments - Electronic Participation
B. Oaths of Office and/or Promotional Recognition of Four Johnston Police Department Staff Members
Mayor Dierenfeld administered Oaths of Office to new Police Officers Andrew Toaddy and Jose Marquez, who graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in December, as well as newly promoted Police Captain Anthony Yeager.
Chief of Police Dennis McDaniel and Fire Chief Percy Coleman recognized the promotion of Public Safety Support Manager Jason Hill.
Mayor Dierenfeld made remarks welcoming the new police officers and commending those promoted.
C. Public Comment
Keith Kohout addressed the Council regarding the speed limit on NW 107th Street. He provided information supporting his request to reduce the speed limit.
Public Works Director Matt Greiner advised that the speed sensors were going to be reinstalled, and more information garnered. He estimated that staff would be back with that information in a few months.

Assistant City Administrator David Wilwerding advised that no changes had been made, nor had there been any additional comments since the prior consideration.
Motion by Rhonda Martin, second by Suresh Reddy to approve Third and Final Consideration of Ordinance Nos. 1152 and 1153, and to adopt and publish.

Council Member Cope provided information on the Des Moines Partnership's Legislative Lunch even occurring on January 12 and encouraged council members to attend.
Council Member Burkhardt noted his appreciation of the Police Department and their continual leveraging of technology, as well as their professionalism. He also voiced his displeasure related to the issue of a pool in Johnston.
Mayor Dierenfeld advised that she would be traveling to Washington D.C to help secure DART's funding request.
