Kettle Brook Water Main Replacement
ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
The Cherry Valley & Rochdale Water District shall receive General Bids at the office of the Cherry Valley & Rochdale Water District at 148 Henshaw Street, Rochdale, Massachusetts 01524 for the construction of the Kettle Brook Water Main Replacement, Contract No. 2, until 11:00 A.M. prevailing time, on July 1, 2026, at which time bids will be opened and publicly read aloud. Bids submitted after this time will not be accepted.
The Work of this Contract generally consists of installing new water main for the Cherry Valley & Rochdale Water District. The work generally consists of furnishing and installing approximately 750 linear feet of water main within the existing paved roadway of Main Street (Route 9) from Cross Street to the intersection of Old Main Street (Route 9) and Chapel Street, including associated service connections, fittings, hydrants, valves, and appurtenances in Cherry Valley, Leicester, Massachusetts. The new water main will be tied into the existing 8-inch water main at the Main Street and Cross Street intersection, the existing 10-inch water main on Chapel Street, and the existing 12-inch water main on Old Main Street. Approximately 200 linear feet of 12-inch HDPE carrier water main and 16-inch HDPE casing water main will be installed off the edge of 490 Main Street via horizontal directional drilling (HDD) through existing soil under Kettle Brook to the intersection of Old Main Street and Chapel Street. The existing water main will be abandoned and left in place. Part of the work will take place withing the State Highway Layout owned and operated by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) and will be subject to the requirements in the MassDOT Highway Access Permit issued for the project.
MassDOT prequalification of contractors with the class of work as, Sewer & Water, for the project with an estimated value of $234,300 will be required. Prospective bidders are not expected to submit a R109 form. Contractors may obtain informational copies of the bid documents, but will not be considered an eligible bidder without having obtained MassDOT prequalification prior to the date and time of the bid opening. The Contract will only be awarded to a MassDOT prequalified contractor.
Contract Documents will be available, on or after 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, and may be electronically downloaded from the Tata & Howard, Inc. website at https://tataandhoward.com/projects-out-to-bid/.
Each bid shall be accompanied by a bid security in the amount of 5% of the total bid amount and in the form described in the Instructions to Bidders. A Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond each in the amount of 100 percent of the contract price will be required in the form described in the Instructions to Bidders. No Bidder may withdraw his bid within 30 days (Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays excluded) after the actual date of the opening of the General Bids. Minimum wage rates as determined by the Commissioner of Department of Labor and Industries under the provision of the Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 149, Sections 26 to 27H, as amended, apply to this project.
If the bidder views/obtains the plans and specifications from a source other than those noted in this Advertisement for Bids, the accuracy and/or completeness of the bid documents cannot be guaranteed and the bidder assumes the responsibility for obtaining any additional information regarding the project, including addenda, that may be required for bidding. Failure to acknowledge addenda issued during bidding shall designate a bid as non-responsive.
