LEGAL NOTICE to Electrical Contractors
Food Link Inc., a local non-profit organization that rescues fresh food from supermarkets and alleviates hunger, is seeking competitive bids for the following scope package for their headquarters at 108 Summer Street, Arlington, MA 02474 . The project is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through a Community Development Block Grant administered by the Town of Arlington.
There is an unpaved, unevenly-graded, compacted soil strip of land adjacent to the asphalt- paved west loding dock lot. This unpaved land strip is separated from the asphalt-paved lot by a below-grade concrete retaining wall (6" thick) whose top surface is at grade with the unpaved strip. There is currently an HDPE conduit mounted on this strip that contains 4 circuits that are terminated at three Unistrut risers mounted atop this retaining wall that each have an outlet box. One has two female receptacles and the other two each have one female receptacle. The conduit and risers have all sufferred physical collisions by vehicles, and will be removed .
Project Work
A separate project with a separate contractor will upgrade the strip of land to usable space for Food Link. This will, effectively, widen the lot by 48". Prior to the start of that land-reclamation project, the electrical contractor will provide a temporary power solution to Food Link operations. This will be done in concert with removing the entirety of the existing electrical outlet infrastructure to an area close to the source of the 4 circuits, and utilize the exterior of the existing storage shed to mount two portable receptacle boxes that will contain one 115V- 30A receptacle and the other will contain one 240V- 30A receptacle , each with a whip of 35 feet. Thus, a user can carry one of these receptacle boxes to a refrigerated vehicle, and use the vehicle's power cord to plug into the portable female receptacle. Contractor can, of course, re-purpose the existing stationary receptacles for this temporary use.
When the separate land-reclamation project is complete, the (permanent) electrical infrastructure will be mounted to the "back side" (to stand up to snow removal) of the new, PT wood 6 x 6" construction retaining wall. This new retaining wall will be located approximately 48" southwest from where the current, below-grade concrete retaining wall is located, and be at the same grade. This new infrastructure will include several additional circuits beyond the existing circuits. The new permanent infrastructure along this 95 foot length retaining will consist of 11 circuits total that terminate on 6 - 4x4" PT uprights. Summary: 2 - 240V-60A for EV charging; 2 - 240V-30A; 3 - 125V-30A; 1 - 125V-20A; 1 - 110V-10A; 1 - 3 Ph 220v-20A; 1 - 24V circuit feeding 6 downlights.
