LEGAL NOTICE to Landscape Construction Contractors
Food Link Inc., a local non-profit organization that rescues fresh food from supermarkets and alleviates hunger, is seeking competitive bids for the following scope package for work at their headquarters at 108 Summer Street, Arlington, MA 02474 . The project is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through a Community Development Block Grant administered by the Town of Arlington.
There is an unpaved, unevenly-graded, compacted soil strip of land adjacent to the asphalt-paved loading dock lot west of the main building. This land strip also contains vegetation in places, and the working area adjacent is sloped terrain with some tree vegetation. This project will upgrade the strip of land to usable space for Food Link. This will, effectively, widen the lot by 48". In doing that, Food Link will crete a permable, load-bearing working surface, while also re-doing and upgrading the electrical services (separate project) needed for refrigerated vehicles and EV chargers, also resolving stormwater management issues on the asphalt by cutting deep grooves through the existing below-grade retaining wall that separates the asphalt from the unimproved strip, and adding necessary safety lighting.
Summary: Build a retaining wall of 6x6" PT construction, and modular fence ( naturalized privacy screen) approximately 95' long starting at the right rear corner of the Food Link building running towards the right (west) corner of the property, stopping 4'-5' before the existing perpendicular interlocking block wall starts. The retaining wall will terminate with a 90 degree "return" to the parking lot and allow the current "casual access path" to the Minuteman Bikeway to remain in place.
This new construction will include at least 6 - 4 x 4"PT posts that will likely be integral to the privacy screen, but also serve as mounting posts for terminations to the 11 circuits planned. A portion of the finished surface that's close to the main building will be surfaced with a suitably smoth and durable material for rolling stock, as mentioned above. The entirety of the new construction must stand up to snow removal by snowblower and shovel. Snow is pushed or blown into the adjacent embankment. Therefore the modularity of the privacy screen - sections will need to be temporarily removed for snow clearing,
