NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING, ANNUAL MEETING AND ELECTION
NAPLES CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT TOWN OF NAPLES, COUNTY OF ONTARIO, NEW YORK
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a Public Hearing of the qualified voters of the Naples Central School District, Ontario County, Naples, New York will be held in the High School Library in said District at 136 North Main Street, Naples, New York 14512 on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at 6:00 PM prevailing time, for the presentation of the budget. A copy of the proposed budget will be available at the hearing as well as in the district office from May 5, 2026 through May 19, 2026, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday except holidays.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the annual meeting and election of the qualified voters of the Naples Central School District of the Town of Naples, et al, Ontario County, New York, will be held at the Naples High School Library in said District at 136 North Main Street, Naples, New York 14512 on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 between the hours of 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM, prevailing time, at which time the polls will be opened for voting by ballot or machine upon the following propositions::
PROPOSITION I (Budget)
Shall the following resolution be adopted, to wit?
BE IT RESOLVED, That the Board of Education of the Naples Central School be authorized to adopt the annual budget of the School District for the fiscal year 2026-2027 and to authorize the requisite portion thereof to be raised by taxation on the taxable property of the District?
PROPOSITION II (Board of Education Members)
To elect two (2) members of the Board for a three-year term commencing July 1, 2026 and expiring on June 30, 2029 AND to elect one (1) member of the Board for a two-year term commencing July 1, 2026 and expiring on June 30, 2028.
PROPOSITION III (Naples Public Library Budget)
Shall the following resolution be wit?
Shall the proposition be approved authorizing the Board of Education of the Naples Central School District to levy taxes annually in the amount of three hundred sixty-four thousand three hundred eighty-eight dollars ($364,388.00), separate and apart from the annual School District budget, and to pay over such monies to the trustees of the Naples Public Library?
PROPOSITION IV (Naples Public Library Trustees)
To elect one (1) member of the Naples Public Library Board of Trustees to serve a term of three (3) years commencing July 1, 2026 and expiring June 30, 2029; and the election of one (1) member of the Naples Public Library Board of Trustees to serve the unexpired portion of a three-year term originally commencing July 1, 2025 and expiring June 30, 2028, such service to begin July 1, 2026. The candidate receiving the highest number of votes shall be elected to the three-year term, and the candidate receiving the next highest number of votes shall be elected to the unexpired term.
AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that petitions for nominating candidates for the office of member of the Naples Board of Education member and petitions for the nominating candidates for the office of member of Naples Library Board of Trustees shall be filed with the District Clerk of the Naples Central School District, not later than Monday, April 20, 2026, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Petitions may be obtained at the District Office of the Naples Central School District, 136 North Main Street, Naples, NY; the Naples Public Library, 118 South Main Street, Naples, NY; or at www.naplescds.org.
NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN, that qualified voters may apply for absentee or an early voting ballot at the district clerk's office, Naples Central School, 136 North Main Street, Naples, NY 14512, Monday through Friday except holidays, 9:00AM to 3:00PM. Applications must be received by the District Clerk at least seven days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. Absentee and Early Mail ballots must be received by the District Clerk not later than 5:00 PM, prevailing time, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. A listing of all persons to whom an absentee or an early mail ballot is issued will be available for public inspection in the District Clerk's office during regular office hours during each of the five business days prior to the vote.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN, that military voters who are qualified voters of said District may apply for a military ballot by requesting an application from the District Clerk at 585-374-7922 or email mbarkley@naplescsd.org. Applications for military ballots must be received no later than 5:00 PM on April 23, 2026. In a request for a military ballot application or ballot, the military voter may indicate their preference for receiving the application or ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail. Military Voter ballots must be received by the District Clerk not later than 5:00 PM, prevailing time, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, the day of the vote.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN, that the District Clerk is authorized to revise the legal notice to comply with legal requirements.
