Minutes of a Joint Work Session with Ames CSD of The Board of Directors
of the United Community School District

MEMBERS PRESENT/ACKNOWLEDGE QUORUM
The United Community School District Board of Education held a board work session with Ames Community School District's Board of Education on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the AMES Center in Ames, Iowa. United Board President, Jon Davis, called the meeting to order at 5:06 p.m. acknowledging a quorum. United board members present were: Davis, Kathy Toms, and Ben Hershey. Lori Weyhrich and Rachael Gross were absent. Others present were Superintendent Heather Holm, Board Secretary Jenn Meinecke, and guests.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Toms motioned to approved the agenda as presented. Hershey seconded. Motion carried 3-0.
INTRODUCTION OF AMES CSD AND UNITED CSD BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Ames Board President Kelly Winfrey and Directors welcomed the United CSD Board of Directors to the AMES Center for a work session collaborating and discussing the strengthening of the partnership, reviewing what is working well, and identifying opportunities to enhance the student experience and operational efficiency moving forward.
WHOLE-GRADE SHARING
The joint Boards discussed: Partnership Strengths: Mutual commitment to student success, expanded student learning opportunities; Opportunities to Strengthen the Student Experience: 6th grade transition, academic readiness and records, student belonging; Operational Alignment: Calendar and schedule coordination, and transportation efficiencies.

There was no further business for consideration. Toms motioned to adjourn the meeting. Hershey seconded. Motion carried 3-0. Meeting adjourned 5:56 p.m. /Jenn Meinecke, Secretary.
