NEW HANOVER COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS RESOLUTION TO ESTABLISH THE TIME AND LOCATION FOR COUNTING ABSENTEE BALLOTS At a meeting duly called and held on the 3rd day of February, 2026, the New Hanover County Board of Elections adopted the following resolution: WHEREAS, pursuant to N.C. Gen. Stat. § 163-234(a), a county board of elections may authorize the counting of approved absentee ballots on Election Day beginning no earlier than 2:00 p.m. upon adoption of a resolution specifying the time and location of counting; and WHEREAS, such resolution must be adopted at least two weeks prior to the election and published in a newspaper of general circulation in the county once weekly during the two-week period preceding the election; and WHEREAS, the New Hanover County Board of Elections conducts official Board meetings and election administration operations at the New Hanover County Board of Elections Office located at 226 Government Center Drive, Wilmington, North Carolina 28403; and WHEREAS, the Board desires to establish a consistent and statutorily compliant absentee ballot counting time and location for the 2026 election cycle; and WHEREAS, pursuant to law, the Board shall not release election results prior to 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, and absentee ballot counting meetings shall be open to the public. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the New Hanover County Board of Elections hereby establishes the following absentee ballot counting schedule and location: · March 3, 2026 Primary Election Counting to begin at 2:00 p.m. Location: New Hanover County Board of Elections Office 226 Government Center Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403 · November 3, 2026 General Election Counting to begin at 2:00 p.m. Location: New Hanover County Board of Elections Office 226 Government Center Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403 Adopted this 3rd day of February, 2026.
