CITY OF EAST ORANGE
PLANNING BOARD
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the City of East Orange Planning Board (the "Board") held a public hearing on May 6, 2026, for an application PBA-07-25-0022 by Spylen Benefit, Inc. (the "Applicant") for preliminary and final major site plan approval with bulk variance relief with respect to property located at 275 Central Avenue, East Orange, Essex County, New Jersey, which is identified as Block 420, Lot 9.02 on the official tax map of the City of East Orange and is located in the City's C-1 Zoning District.
On May 6, 2026, the Board granted the Applicant preliminary and final major site plan approval and bulk variance relief (the "Approval") to renovate the existing Wendy's Restaurant on the Property including removing the approximately 246 s.f. greenhouse adjoining the restaurant dining room at the front of the building, and constructing a building addition of approximately 406 s.f. at the rear of the restaurant for a walk-in freezer. The Approval includes "c" variance relief for wall signage, and permits upgrades to the exterior of the restaurant, including the installation of a double drive-thru lane and bike pad and improvements to landscaping, signage, menu boards, parking, and striping as set forth in the application.
A copy of the Resolution of Approval, which was memorialized on June 3, 2026, is on file in the East Orange Division of Comprehensive Planning Office, City Hall, 44 City Hall Plaza, East Orange, New Jersey 07018, and may be viewed by the public during regular municipal business hours.
