NOTICE OF DECISION
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that at the conclusion of a hearing held before it on February 3, 2026, the Planning Board for the Borough of Hawthorne granted preliminary site plan approval and variances for (1) minimum side yard open space setback (Ordinance §540-163 I.(3)(c)); (2) loading zones not located in rear or side yard as required (Ordinance §540-76 F.(2)); (3) maximum height of wall-mounted identification signs (Ordinance §540-163 I.(12)(c)); (4) maximum height of light source on non-residential lots abutting residential zone (Ordinance §540-82 C.)); and (5) providing concrete curb in lieu of granite block curb as required (Ordinance §540-91 B.) to the undersigned, to allow the undersigned applicant to construct, establish and maintain an automotive fueling station with convenience store operated by Wawa, Inc., consisting of an approximately 6,372 square foot Wawa convenience store with a gasoline fueling facility with up to 6 fuel dispensers (12 fueling positions) located under a canopy, approximately 45 accessory parking spaces, outdoor freestanding propane tank sales and ice sales kiosks, emergency power transformer, freestanding and wall-mounted identification and gas signage, landscaping, lighting, trash enclosure, fencing, stormwater management facilities, site circulation improvements, utility installations and related site improvements. The above described improvements are to occur on property shown as Lots 4, 5, 6.01, 7.01, 19.01 & 19.05 in Block 281.02 on the Borough of Hawthorne Tax Map, which property consists of approximately 1.71 acres and is located at 851 Lafayette Avenue and 990 Goffle Road, improved with masonry structures and improvements most recently utilized by Paul's Motors car dealership and a single family home, all to be demolished.
The decision of the Board was memorialized in a written Resolution adopted by the said Borough of Hawthorne Planning Board on April 7, 2026, and is available at the Borough of Hawthorne Planning Board, 445 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne, New Jersey.
