NOTICE OF FILING OF APPLICATION FOR CAMA MAJOR DEVELOPMENT PERMIT The Department of Environmental Quality hereby gives public notice as required by NCGS 113A-119(b) that the following applications were submitted for a development permit in Areas of Environmental Concern as designated under the CAMA: On October 1, 2025, Herschel Edge proposed to replace a 64 linear ft. bulkhead with two 10 ft. wingwalls, a max of 2 ft. below NHW resulting in the fill of approx. 128 sq. ft. of Coastal Wetlands within a man-made Canal at 105 & 107 Sanford St. adj. to the AIWW in Holden Beach, Brunswick County; And on October 1, 2025 David & Sally Piepmeyer proposed new excavation in ORW waters with excavation of an upland boat basin, installation of a new bulkhead, installation of three (3) floating docks, a fixed platform, new boat lift, free standing breakwater/bulkhead and improvements to the existing boat ramp, for a total of seven (7) slips on Parcel 2 at 122 Broadview Dr., adj. to the AIWW in Hampstead, Pender County. Dept. of Environmental Quality, Division of Coastal Management, 127 Cardinal Drive Ext., Wilmington, NC 28405, (910) 796-7423 (Courtney) or (910) 796-7240 (Phil) during normal business hours. Comments mailed to Tancred Miller, Director, Division of Coastal Management, 400 Commerce Avenue, Morehead City, NC 28557-3421, prior to October 28, 2025 will be considered in making the permit decision. Later comments will be accepted and considered up to the time of permit decision. Project modification may occur based on review and comment by the public and state and federal agencies.
