NOTICE OF INTENT BASING KC-46A PEGASUS AT SELFRIDGE AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, MACOMB COUNTY, MICHIGAN – ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ANALYSIS PROCESS
The National Guard Bureau (NGB) and the Department of the Air Force (DAF) are preparing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to assess the potential impacts associated with basing one squadron of KC-46A Pegasus (KC-46) aircraft at the 127th Wing (127 WG) at Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Macomb County, Michigan. The Proposed Action would consist of the beddown, operation, and associated infrastructure construction of one squadron of up to eight (8) KC-46 aircraft to replace the current fleet of eight (8) KC-135T Stratotanker aircraft at the 127 WG. The EIS will also consider Alternative 1, which consists of basing up to 12 KC-46 aircraft and the No Action Alternative.
Public Involvement
Public involvement is a fundamental element to the successful implementation of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process, which requires full disclosure of potential environmental impacts to the public and encourages public involvement in the process. The public has an important role in providing input during this process to help the DAF make more informed decisions to implement the proposal.
