NOTICE OF PROPERTY OWNERS The Altoona Board of Adjustment will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, March 5th, 2026, at 6:30 PM in the Council Chambers at Altoona City Hall, 900 Venbury Drive, Altoona, Iowa. The purpose of said hearing is to consider an appeal of an administrative decision (Chapter 170.05 of the Zoning Code) from Riley Gordon on behalf of the property owner (Rustin Properties, LLC). The applicant is appealing the determination concerning Chapter 167.09 "Off-Street Parking Area Required" where the proposed use was classified as a "dance hall, assembly hall" requiring one space for each 100 square feet of floor area used. The appellant has appealed that the proposed use should be classified as "social, fraternal clubs, lodges, and similar uses" requiring one space per 300 square feet of gross floor area. The property is located at 408 8th Street SW and is legally described as: The West 185 feet measured on the North line of Lot Nine (9), VENBURY SQUARE, an Official Plat being in and forming a part of the City of Altoona, Polk County, Iowa, and filed in Book 7093 Page 390, of the Polk County Recorders Office. More particularly described as follows: Beginning at the Southwest corner of said Lot 9, thence N 16 degrees 33'06" E, 52,20 feet, thence N 00 degrees 08'51"W, 125.00 feet; thence 39.27 feet on a curve northeasterly with a radius of 25.00 feet, a chord bearing N 44 degrees 51'08" E being 35.36 feet in length; thence N 89 degrees 51'09" E, 160.00 feet, thence S 00 degrees 08'51" E, 200.00 feet, thence S 89 degrees 51'09" W, 200.00 feet to the point of beginning. Said parcel A contains 0.855 acres, more or less. The Board of Adjustment of Altoona, Iowa, may, after holding a Public Hearing, reverse or uphold the appeal.
