NOTICE OF PUBLIC COMMENT OPPORTUNITY
VILLAGE OF GERMANTOWN
NOTICE is hereby given that the Village of Germantown is providing the opportunity for customers to share public comments for its final draft of the Water Supply Service Area Plan.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WI DNR) requires a Water Supply Service Area Plan for communities serving populations of 10,000 or more, and the Village of Germantown meets this definition with an estimated 2025 population of 21,000.
The purpose of this plan is to illustrate compliance with Section 281.348 of the Wisconsin Statutes and Chapter NR854 as follows:
-Identify Service Area.
-Take inventory of existing sources of water supply.
-Identify both existing and future populations within the service area.
-Estimate water demands forecasts.
-Identify options for the alternate water supply.
-Demonstrate the plan effectively utilizes existing infrastructure.
-Illustrate the plan supports and is consistent with comprehensive plan for the service area.
-Assess the environmental and economic impacts of implementing the proposed diversion.
The public can access the final draft of the plan on the Village's website: www.germantownwi.gov
Per the WI DNR (NR854.08), the Village of Germantown is sharing the plan with the public with an open comment period from February 25, 2026, to March 27, 2026. At the end of the comment period, a public hearing will be scheduled with the Germantown Village Board for adoption.
