NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
AMENDMENTS TO YREKA MUNICIPAL CODE ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS ORDINANCE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to the Municipal Code of the City of Yreka and State law (including the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)), that the City Council will conduct a public hearing to review and take action regarding amendments to the Yreka Municipal Code that, if adopted, will amend the Zoning Code (Title 16 to the Yreka Municipal Code) to bring the current Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Ordinance (Section 16.46.170 of the Yreka Municipal Code) into compliance with current State law.
The City Council will conduct this public hearing on Tuesday, April 7th, 2026, at 6:30 PM in the City Council Chamber, located at 701 4th Street. All interested persons are invited to attend and present written and/or verbal comments at this hearing. It is requested that any written comments and associated documents be submitted to the City Hall office or via email to cprohaska@yrekaca.gov by 3:00 PM on April 7th to be distributed to the City Council prior to the meeting. Instructions on how to provide verbal public comment will be detailed on the Agenda, which will be posted on the City Website 72 hours prior to the meeting.
ENVIRONMENTAL DETERMINATION: The proposed Accessory Dwelling Unit Ordinance amendment is not subject to environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15060(c)(2) and (3) in that the activity will not result in a direct or reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment, and in that the activity is not a "project" as defined in Section 15378. CEQA Guidelines Section 15378(b)(2) and (5) exclude "[c]ontinuing administrative ... activities" and "administrative activities of governments that will not result in direct or indirect physical changes to the environment" from its definition of "project."
