NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING BEFORE THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT NEVADA, IOWA
An appeal has been made with the Board of Adjustment of the City of Nevada, Iowa, by Claudia Nehring to allow her new front yard fence, including decorative posts, to be 44 inches at the property of 908 K Ave., legally described as:
The East Fifty (50) feet of the West One hundred Twenty (120) feet of the North Eighty-five (85) feet of Lot One (1), Block four (4) of MILLS ADDITION, Nevada, Story County, Iowa.
The building official was required, under the provisions of the Zoning Ordinance, to deny the building permit because the proposed construction did not comply in all respects with the terms of the Chapter 165 (Land Development-zoning regulations, specifically 165.17 (Supplemental site development regulations [7E subsection c: Not exceed thirty six (36) inches in height except for upright decorative posts, which shall not exceed forty-two (42) inches in height. ).
Pursuant to Section 121.1209, Code of Ordinances of Nevada, Iowa, 2003, the Board of Adjustment, after public hearing, may permit exceptions to the district regulations to authorize the proposed construction.
A public hearing will be held by the Board of Adjustment on the 12th Day of May, 2026, at 10:00 o'clock A.M., in the City Council Chambers in City Hall at 1209 6th Street, at which time you may submit your views on the matter in person, in writing, or by representative.
If you know of any interested property owner who, for any reason, has not received a copy of this Notice, it would be greatly appreciated if you would inform them of the time and place of the hearing.
