NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT
CITY OF YREKA FIRE HALL PROJECT

Location: Council Chambers, 701 4th Street, Yreka, CA 96097
Project Description: The City Council will consider the following conditional use permit application filed by the City of Yreka. The proposed conditional use permit would allow for the construction and operation of a new approximately 20,000 square foot Fire Hall on property located between S Main Street and Fourth Street at 915 S Main Street and 918 Fourth Street. The Project site consists of four (4) parcels totaling approximately 3.4 acres, identified by Siskiyou County Assessor as Assessor's Parcel Numbers (APNs) 061-163-010, 061-272-030, 061-272-070, and 061-281-010. The building would include an apparatus bay, firefighter living, and an administrative office. Site work would involve demolition of the existing facility, grading, landscaping and irrigation, paving and hardscapes, and modifications to site access. The property is zoned CH (Commercial Highway) and has a General Plan Land Use Designation of General Commercial.
Environmental Review Information: Pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), this project will not have a significant effect on the environment and is listed as a Class 32 Categorical Exemption. This project is eligible for a Class 32 Categorical Exemption per Section 15332 of the State CEQA Guidelines as it involves in-fill development. Section 15332 exempts in-fill development projects provided certain criteria are met. This project meets all of the criteria with no exceptions being required since the project is consistent with the applicable general plan designation and zoning regulations, the proposed development occurs within city limits on a project site of less than five acres substantially surrounded by urban uses, the project site has no value as habitat for endangered, rare, or threatened species, approval of the project would not result in any significant effects relating to traffic, noise, air quality, or water quality, and the site can be adequately served by all required utilities and public services.

Please identify the specific item you are commenting on; 2) By mailing written comments to City Hall, 701 4th Street, Yreka, CA 96097; 3) attending the public hearing at City Council on the noted date, time, and location above in person. If a member of the public wishes to challenge the proposed project, comments may be limited to only those issues raised at the public hearing described in this notice, or in written correspondence delivered prior to the public hearing.
