NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED LOCAL LAW OF ONTARIO COUNTY NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be held before the Board of Supervisors of Ontario County at 74 Ontario Street, 2nd Floor, Canandaigua, New York on October 2, 2025, at 6:30 P.M. concerning Local Law No. 4 (Intro.) of 2025, an amendment to Local Law No. 10 (Intro.) of 2024, entitled "A Local Law to Establish Enforcement Authority for Prohibited Unlicensed Cannabis Activity". This amends the local law that designates the Ontario County Sheriff's Office as the agent to act on behalf of Ontario County to enforce New York State Cannabis Law, conduct regulatory inspections of properties suspected of unlicensed cannabis activities, to promote the public health, safety and welfare and to promote the public good. The amendment changes the Order to Seal procedure such that a court of competent jurisdiction issues a final ruling, not the Sheriff. This negates the necessity of the petition process in the original local law. Accordingly, that process has been removed.
