NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
City of Battle Creek
ON THE ADOPTION OF A BROWNFIELD PLAN
PURSUANT TO ACT 381 OF 1996, AS AMENDED.
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Battle Creek City Commission will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, June 17, 2026, at 7:00 PM, in the City Commission Chambers (Room 301), City Hall, 10 N. Division Street, Battle Creek, MI, 49014, to consider adoption of an Act 381 Brownfield Plan for The Fields at Battle Creek development.
The proposed brownfield properties consist of six (1) parcel of land totaling approximately 13.12 acres, located within the City of Battle Creek, Calhoun County, Michigan, commonly known as 15105 S. Helmer Road, and identified as:
Parcel #0616-48-400-1
The proposed Brownfield Plan would allow GLC Multi BC, LLC (the "Developer") to be reimbursed for costs of eligible environmental and non-environmental activities incurred to prepare the properties for redevelopment, in accordance with Public Act 381 of 1996, as amended. The Plan provides for the use of tax increment financing to reimburse eligible activities as authorized under Act 381.
The proposed redevelopment includes construction of approximately 240 multi-family residential units, including a portion of income-restricted housing units.
The Battle Creek Brownfield Authority voted to recommend approval of The Fields at Battle Creek Brownfield Plan to the City Commission at their May 18, 2026, board meeting.
A copy of the proposed Brownfield Plan, including property descriptions and maps is available for public inspection in the Office of the City Clerk at City Hall located at 10 N Division St, Battle Creek, MI 49014 during regular business hours.
