NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
The Waukee Board of Adjustment will hold a public hearing at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2026, Waukee City Hall, City Council Chambers, 230 W. Hickman Road, Waukee, IA 50263. In accordance with Iowa Code Sections 21.4(1)(b) and 21.8, this meeting of the Waukee Board of Adjustment will be conducted with two different options for public participation: 1) Members of the public wishing to attend in person may do so in the Council Chambers at Waukee City Hall. 2) Members of the public wishing to participate electronically may do so via Zoom at the following link or phone numbers:

Connor and Katelyn Schmitt, the property owners of 1855 SE Greentree Drive, property legally described as Lot 8 of Hemingway Plat 1, which is located south of SE Pleasant View Drive and east of SE Greentree Drive, have submitted a variance request to the City for consideration by the Board of Adjustment. The purpose of the hearing is to consider the appeal of Connor and Katelyn Schmitt, the property owners of 1855 SE Greentree Drive, property legally described as Lot 8 of Hemingway Plat 1, who have filed for a variance from §165.06(2)A and §165.06(3)B of the Waukee Municipal Code which prohibits an accessory building from being constructed within a front yard or within a building setback line for a corner lot as identified on the approved plat. The owners are requesting a variance to allow for the construction of an accessory building within a building setback line of a secondary front yard on a corner lot.
§166.16 of the Waukee Municipal Code states that the Board of Adjustments has the power to authorize upon appeal in specific cases such variance from the terms of this Ordinance. Such a variance cannot be granted unless it meets certain criteria.
All interested parties are invited to attend the public hearing and express their opinions pro or con. Any written comments received on or before this date by the City Zoning Administrator will be considered to be part of the hearing as well.
